Lemon Thai is 60% Sativa, 40% Indica. You may not know the classic Ms. Lemon Thai, but you certainly know her offspring. Lemon Thai is one of the original parents of the famed OG. Some may say that OG is nothing more than Chem Dawg from Massachusetts, but where does the citrusy, lemon flavor come from?…Lemon Thai. This is an old strain, so she may be hard to find. Initially this strain was created by crossing Lemon Kush with Thai, but that’s where it gets hazy. She first showed up in Hawaii as this strain was acclimated for the awesome growing conditions there. The question that has been debated is: What strain of Thai was first crossed with Lemon Kush? Some genetics experts have narrowed it down to Thai or Highland Thai. The plant flourished in Hawaii’s fertile volcanic soil so well that some have labeled this a Hawaiian Sativa, perhaps because of its lemony taste (a lot of Hawaiian Sativas tend to take on a lemony flavor). Most recently, seeds were available from a European seed bank, but that company has since folded. The smoke ranges from spicy, sweet to, of course lemon, and even melon flavors. Some have said the lemon taste ranges from bitter lemon to sweet pink lemonade. Perhaps this difference is the result of which strain of Thai was the parent. Highland Thai has a tutti fruity kind of taste to it- this would definitely cause the sweeter lemon taste. After a few tokes of this vixen, you won’t care who her parents were because you’re going to be in love. You will immediately get an uplifting, clear “head high”. The experienced toker will be able to use this as a daytime medication as it is clear headed with no paranoia, but be warned if you smoke too much, that 40% Indica side will take over and you’ll be noticing your “body buzz” which can quickly turn to couch lock with a side of paranoia. Overall, it’s an energetic, relaxing high.
